TL;DR: Ninaivo stores all your notes and thoughts on your device only. Nothing is uploaded to our servers — we don’t have any. The only time your content leaves your device is when you choose to use an optional cloud AI provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, or Gemini), and even then it goes directly to that provider under their own privacy policy.

1. Information Handled by the App

Ninaivo is designed around a local-first, privacy-by-default architecture. The table below outlines how data is handled:

We do not operate any backend servers. We do not collect analytics, crash reports, advertising IDs, or any telemetry.

2. Cloud AI Providers (Optional)

Ninaivo can work entirely offline using an on-device model. If you choose to enable a cloud AI provider, your prompts and relevant note excerpts are sent directly from your device to that provider. Ninaivo does not proxy, intercept, or log this traffic.

3. Live Data & External APIs

When you ask Nino about live information (weather, stock prices, news), your query or parts of it may be sent to the following third-party services directly from your device:

Primary app purpose & scheduling disclaimer: Ninaivo’s core and primary purpose is thought capture, semantic organization, and note processing. Automated schedule extraction, calendar detection, recurring routine checklists, and reminder notifications are convenience (“nice-to-have”) assistance features. Automated parsing can occasionally misinterpret dates, times, or recurrence intervals. Do not rely on Ninaivo as a mission-critical calendar, medical management system, or life-critical alarm. Always verify important dates, appointments, and medication schedules independently.

Financial data disclaimer: Market data from Yahoo Finance is provided for informational purposes only. It is not financial advice, may be delayed, and may be inaccurate. Do not make investment decisions based on data displayed in Ninaivo.

4. On-Device AI Model Downloads

You can download AI model files (in .litertlm or .task format) directly from Hugging Face or other URLs you specify. Ninaivo does not redistribute, host, or modify these model files.

Each model carries its own license from its creator. Common examples:

Google Gemma — Google Gemma Terms of Use
Meta Llama — Meta Llama Community License
Microsoft Phi — Microsoft Research License

By downloading a model through Ninaivo, you agree to that model creator’s terms. Hugging Face’s own Privacy Policy applies to the download request.

5. Data Backup

Android’s automatic cloud backup may back up your thoughts database to your own Google account. Your API keys and debug logs are explicitly excluded from cloud backup.

You can export a full JSON backup at any time from Settings → Data & Backup. This file is saved to a location of your choosing and is never uploaded by Ninaivo.

6. Android Permissions

INTERNET — Contacts AI providers and fetches live data when you request it.
SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM — Powers time-precise reminder notifications.
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED — Restores your scheduled reminders after a device restart.
READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / CAMERA — Used only when you choose to attach an image or photo to a note.
RECORD_AUDIO — Used only when you tap the microphone button for voice capture.

7. Children’s Privacy

Ninaivo is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe your child has used the app and provided personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when features change. The “Last updated” date at the top will always reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
